Happy 1 year birthday!

I didn't realize that I haven't posted anything since mid-February! I also want to write about the rest of my work, which I gladly finished, but I need to write about the big event on March 25th!

Our son turned 1 year old. It's a real milestone in many cultures for a baby to survive the first year. I could never imagine that he would be eating my homemade cake on his own and crawling and being so interactive. I remember how small he was, when he was born. I will never forget the time when I was able to hold him for the first time. I was still connected to all kids of tubes and feeling delirious but so worried about him being in the NICU. He was brought in by a nurse. When I held him, he started crying loudly. I felt so happy but felt enormous responsibility to ensure his wellbeing. I was tired and sleepy, but I looked forward for seeing him during nursing time even in a middle of a night. I could recognize his crying getting closer in the hospital hallway....

One year fast-forward, he is a tiny but a proper individual. He has his own will. He smiles, laughs, cries and gets angry. He started calling me "mama" and he also says "papa." He understands quite a few words now, such as ohayou, itadakimasu, ittutekimasu, banana, dog, bird etc etc. I feel so fortunate to watch him grow.

I made a birthday cake with pancakes, yogurt, strawberries and blueberries. He ate the entire thing on his own in a matter of 10 minutes!
