I resolved

When I was studying in an university in Japan, I used to belong to a club where we performed plays and musicals in English. We played one musical called She Loves Me, and I was given a role of a sexy girl (yes, I had to stuff my bras with socks..) who always get troubles with guys. My main number was a song called "I resolve", and she was resolving not to be messed up by men any longer.

Anyhow, I did not make such resolution this year (perhaps I should have), among yoga and meditation and being healthy etc, I had another big item on my list of resolutions this year, which was:








Working in NY and












I will be going there!


Well, this is just a 3 months short term consultancy. I will be working on gender issues in a different UN agency than where I was for the past two years. I know my rent is going to increase more than 10 fold, I will be impoverished and starve and subsisting on ramen noodles, having to take my laundry to a laundry mat. But, so what! It is NYC!!

I am still sorting out the paper work and visa, so I will not leave another week or so. The first farewell dinner was held with some friends yesterday and it felt strange. I still do not feel that I am actually leaving. I may still come back to the country if I am offered another position with the office here. So, let's see.

I want to make most of it, learning the work of other UN agency, networking, keep looking for other opportunities, take advantage of the city and visit museums, see musicals ballet etc etc. It will be great to be close to Canada and I will be able to see my friends. I will see you very soon and come and visit me there!!
