NYC 便り
I have arrived in NYC on Monday and completed the 2nd day at the office. I am severely jet lagged but I managed to stay awake till the end of work day today. I have made some progress so far.
I have found an apartment yesterday after viewing five places. It is on the 60th Street, so it will be about 20 mins walk to the office (walkable distance with heels!!). It is a simple and basic apartment. I knew it, but I was still amazed by how expensive the apartments are here. I saw one place, nice and clean but so tiny, which still costs $2200. I thought I will be claustrophobic in such place. I was almost ready to sign up for a place (small one bedroom) for $2600. I decided to look around a bit more and found this place, spacious studio on the 4th floor, minimum furnishing but clean, facing a road and a bit on a noisy side (I am used to noise by now) with two friendly Bengali concierges. Compared to the other place I will be saving so much money, and to live for only three months, this will do hopefully.
I am settling in work as well thanks to nice colleagues and a supervisor. I had my new e-mail address, ID card issued, introduced to the people in the unit, started reviewing documents, ate at the office cafeteria (subsidized yet costs around $6 for lunch- to me still feels expensive). Bumped into a former colleague from different agency in KTM. He did not know that I was in NYC, so he was so surprised.
I have not done any fun activities, unlike the last time when I was here two years ago (I started shopping on the 1st day...) I will start meeting some people and need to find a yoga studio asap.

Count down to the end of la vie du luxe
Viva Bikram Yoga
Yoga has been definitely one of the things that keep me somewhat sane in my crazy life. After this yoga, I feel just so calm, happy and as if nothing ever matters. Listen to this, this is how good it is. I went to the class, brave me, on the day when I broke up with my ex after I must have shed tears equivalent of couple of litres. It is good to sweat instead of cry of course, and I felt so good. Also, it was one of my best classed, since I did not eat anything for the entire day.
After the last class, the teacher organized a dinner for his students, and we all went to a Thai restaurant. All students, though some of us knew one another through chit-chats before and after the class, did a round of introduction with a name, profession and of course the favorite posture in the Bikram Yoga. We had fun sharing funny stories about the class and things that students have done etc. The teacher said once he was holing one posture longer than usual and saw my face frowned and he almost burst into laughter.
I hope to continue this when I am in NY!!
